IDF's Gaza strikes interfere with BoP efforts to disarm Hamas, give medical care, Mladenov implies

Board of Peace Director-General Nickolay Mladenov suggested on Sunday that Israeli strikes in Gaza are disrupting peace efforts. Two days of strikes have resulted in civilian deaths and the destruction of essential medical supplies, Mladenov stated in a tweet. This follows intense negotiations by the Board of Peace and mediators (Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, and the US) to get Palestinian factions in Gaza to agree on a roadmap.

Mladenov emphasized that his team's current focus is on disarming Palestinian factions and establishing a civilian government in Gaza. He also reminded that both Israel and the Palestinian factions have obligations under the agreement they must follow. Mladenov's statements come after the IDF announced the killing of two Hamas commanders in Gaza on Sunday.

Additionally, the IDF claimed to have killed three terrorists from various terror groups over the past week. White House and Board of Peace officials confirmed on Friday that they are not pressuring Israel to do anything beyond what they had initially agreed upon in the 20-point plan. They expressed confidence in Israel's adherence to the plan, but warned of disappointment if it fails to do so.
