Tony Oteng-Gyasi, born in 1955, began his career at British Petroleum in Ghana in 1986, eventually leaving the company to found his own businesses. His first venture, Tropical Products Limited, allowed him to enter the trading and manufacturing sectors. In 1997, he launched Tropical Cable and Conductor Limited, becoming the first Ghanaian-owned cable manufacturer to earn ISO 9001 certification.
In 2007, he established Western Rod & Wire Limited, which now operates the only continuous casting and rolling factory for EC Grade Aluminium Rod in West Africa.
