Drone attack hits key Wildberries logistics center in Russia

A Wildberries logistics center in Novosemeykino, Samara Oblast, Russia, was targeted by a drone attack overnight on August 1-2, according to the Exilenova+ Telegram monitoring channel. The 178,600-square-meter complex is a crucial logistics hub in Russia's Volga region, responsible for distributing and delivering goods across Samara Oblast and neighboring areas, supporting Wildberries' logistics network in central European Russia, as reported by Astra Telegram channel.

A sizable display featuring Russia's flag and symbols associated with its conflict with Ukraine sits about 450 meters from the warehouse, according to Astra Telegram channel. Wildberries confirmed the attack and reported no casualties. The logistics center is part of Wildberries' extensive network, which comprises around 200 facilities covering a total of 5.2 million square meters, handling approximately 4.5 million orders daily and accounting for 45% of all online sales in Russia.

During the initial week of Ukrainian strikes, Ukrainian attacks damaged about 550,000 square meters, or 10%, of Wildberries' warehouse capacity. The online retailer and its merchants are estimated to have suffered losses ranging between $770 million and $1.2 billion. Over the course of two weeks, Ukraine's Defense Forces launched 18 attacks on Wildberries' logistics facilities in Russia, striking sites totaling more than 1 million square meters, which constitutes roughly 40% of the company's largest warehouses, as reported by Exilenova+ Telegram channel.
