Don’t rush into early general election, says PKR’s Hassan Karim

Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Karim has advised the government against precipitously scheduling the 16th general election (GE16). Speaking on Facebook, Karim urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to refrain from dissolving Parliament prematurely. He argued that the party, PKR, should first evaluate the election outcomes and strategize a robust approach for the upcoming GE16.

Karim urged supporters to "take a rest PKR, after working hard during the campaign. We can then carefully plan a good strategy for GE16," he said. He emphasized that finishing the current term would allow economic policies to demonstrate their efficacy, giving citizens a chance to witness their impact. Karim cautioned that holding GE16 prematurely could negatively affect PKR’s standing, particularly following recent losses in Sabah, Johor, and Negeri Sembilan.

He proposed using the following 12-18 months to bolster the economy, draw in more foreign direct investment, and enhance public trust in the government’s performance. Karim reminded PKR members not to be disheartened by the recent results, but to persist in preparation for GE16. "So, do not cry PKR. You are a reform party. We are fighters. We are brave enough to fight, brave enough to win and brave enough to face defeat," he concluded.
