Trump says he will hold off on fresh Iran attack in hope of quick deal

US President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that the United States would refrain from launching further attacks on Iran, provided a swift agreement could be reached to suspend Iran's nuclear activities and reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Iran and other Middle Eastern nations urged for a delay in making such a deal, aiming to restore full access to the vital passage and resolve Iran's nuclear concerns.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump did not identify the countries in question, following a conversation with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He pledged to cancel the attack, pending the ability to swiftly achieve a deal, for the global benefit and Iran's survival. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also committed to the agreement.

Iran's foreign minister cautioned that Tehran would retaliate decisively against any aggression by the US or its allies, warning of heightened regional instability. The recent war between the US, Israel, and Iran has resulted in attacks across the Gulf to the Red Sea and even Egypt, significantly disrupting oil exports and driving up energy prices.
