Olivia Rodrigo Joins Smashing Pumpkins for “Thirty-Three” at Lollapalooza: Watch

Olivia Rodrigo graced the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago's Grant Park with a surprise performance alongside The Smashing Pumpkins for their hit single "Thirty-Three" from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. This collaboration came as no surprise to Melissa Auf der Maur, the former bassist of Smashing Pumpkins, who revealed a chance encounter with Rodrigo in March.

Auf der Maur told Rodrigo's 13-year-old daughter, "Without your mother, none of this would have happened," highlighting a connection between Rodrigo's music and her mother's influence, particularly the '90s era. This is not the first time Rodrigo has joined forces with celebrated rock bands. In recent years, she has shared the stage with The Cure's Robert Smith, Weezer, David Byrne, Avril Lavigne, No Doubt, and more.

During Smashing Pumpkins' set at Lollapalooza, Yungblud joined for a rendition of "Luna" from Siamese Dream, while Auf der Maur reunited with Corgan and co. for "The Everlasting Glaze." Rodrigo is currently on tour promoting her latest album, "The Unraveled," scheduled to begin this fall. Smashing Pumpkins, meanwhile, are gearing up for their 30th anniversary tour of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.
