iPhone 18 Pro Models Could Be Up to $300 More Expensive, Says Analyst

An analyst has predicted that the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models and iPhone 18 Pro Max could carry a price tag $250-$300 higher compared to their predecessor models, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. According to a report by GF Securities, rising costs of 2nm silicon and DRAM/NAND memory could be the primary drivers of these price hikes.

Currently, the base models of iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are priced at $1,099 and $1,199 respectively. In June, Apple made price adjustments to a number of its products, including iPads, Macs, HomePods, Apple TV, and the Vision Pro, but skipped the iPhone models. Jeff Pu, the analyst who made this prediction, believes the price increase for the next-generation Pro models could lead to "demand uncertainty."

Notably, Pu has recently shifted his stance on Apple, downgrading the company's stock from a 'buy' to a 'hold' rating. This change in perspective is a stark contrast to his earlier optimism in May, when he predicted Apple could price the iPhone 18 Pro models "aggressively" despite the upward trend in memory costs. At the company's Q3 earnings call on Thursday, outgoing CEO Tim Cook did not address the potential price increase for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models and the first foldable iPhone, set to launch in September.

However, many analysts foresee a price increase for these new models. This September is expected to see the unveiling of the iPhone 18 Pro models, the first foldable iPhone, and other new devices, with the regular iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 slated for a spring 2027 release.
