Medtech manufacturer Boston Scientific plans job cuts in Ireland

Global medical device company Boston Scientific is set to make job cuts at its Irish operations. The layoffs, which will affect over 7,000 workers across facilities in Galway, Cork and Tipperary, were announced by the company on 22 July. The decision comes after the company's $75m Galway expansion and a plan to open new laboratories.

The exact number of layoffs is yet to be disclosed, but the company is expected to incur costs ranging from $700m to $800m as part of a global restructuring plan. Despite the impending job cuts, Boston Scientific continues to hire across its Irish locations. The company has expressed its commitment to its long-term presence in Ireland, recognizing the significant contributions of its employees.
