Kinematic Trees raises £585K to scale nature-inspired robotics software

UK-based robotics software company Kinematic Trees has secured £585,000 in pre-seed funding to bolster its robot-agnostic software platform and broaden its team. Investors include Haatch's SEIS Fund, D2N2 Early-Stage Angel Investment Fund, and British Business Bank (BBB) Syndicate Fund. Established in 2025 by Dr Stuart Wilson and Daniel Camilleri, the startup creates a software layer that facilitates the deployment of advanced robotics across various hardware platforms.

Drawing inspiration from natural intelligence, the platform consolidates expert robotics knowledge into modular components, which can be repurposed, combined, and tailored for new applications. This approach enables robotics providers, manufacturers, and software developers to construct and scale robotic systems with greater efficiency.

Kinematic Trees collaborates with robotics providers to develop integrated solutions for manufacturing, healthcare, education, and creative industries. The company is also engaged in research on embodied artificial intelligence and cognitive architectures to promote the broader use of personal and industrial robotics. CEO Dr Stuart Wilson highlighted that recent advancements in robotics hardware and artificial intelligence have considerably reduced the cost of robot deployment, yet software remains a significant obstacle to wider adoption.

He explained that their robot-agnostic intelligence layer offers the necessary software foundation to enhance robot utility, adaptability, and safety while enabling the reuse of advanced control systems and expertise across different hardware platforms. CTO Daniel Camilleri emphasized that the widespread adoption of robotics hinges on software portability rather than specific hardware platforms.

According to Camilleri, their methodology enables software to evolve across diverse robot embodiments, fostering an ecosystem of reusable capabilities that can expedite both industrial and consumer robotics. The new funding will be allocated towards product development, international deployment, and the growth of Kinematic Trees' commercial, robotics, and software engineering teams in London, Nottinghamshire, and Sheffield.

Additionally, the company anticipates unveiling its first factory deployments and forging new partnerships with robotics providers and software developers in the latter half of 2026.
