Mark Lamb wins Arizona House primary despite sex scandals

In Arizona's 5th District, former Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb secured victory in the primary election, despite facing significant personal scandals. Lamb, who came in as the frontrunner for the November general election, is set to replace Rep. Andy Biggs, who is running for governor. The race was heavily influenced by President Donald Trump’s endorsement, which proved to be a decisive factor in Lamb's win over his opponent, Daniel Keenan.

Keenan, self-funding his campaign with nearly $2 million of his own money, attempted to capitalize on Lamb's alleged sexual misconduct and abuse of power. However, Lamb vehemently denied the accusations. Trump's backing, alongside support from Turning Point USA, helped Lamb fend off the attacks. Lamb's tenure as sheriff was marked by controversy, as he gained national attention for his critical stance against the Biden administration's immigration and border policies.

In May, the Arizona Republic conducted an investigation that revealed Lamb engaged in a pattern of sending sexual images and instigating intimate encounters. One woman, Jillian Stannard, accused Lamb of pressuring her husband to engage in sexual acts with other women, including Lamb's wife. She also claimed that Lamb threatened her with dire consequences when she sought advice from religious leaders.

Another woman, Tammy Peacock, had messages exchanged with Lamb that reportedly included threats of using Arizona's revenge porn law against her. Despite the scandals, Lamb's relationship with Trump remained strong, and he did not lose any major endorsements during the campaign.
