Israeli ex-security officials contact Abbas as potential Segalovitz move attracts Jewish candidates

Former senior Israeli security officials have reached out to Raam chairman Mansour Abbas as Yoav Segalovitz, a former Yesh Atid MK, contemplates joining the party. Segalovitz officially announced his departure from Yesh Atid on Thursday, with potential movement to Raam. Channel 12 journalist Muhammad Majadle reported on the progress of talks and revealed that several former officials, including those from the latest war, had approached Raam.

These individuals, who held past positions and fought in the war, saw the move as significant and approached Abbas, who listened and welcomed their support. The Arab sector's response to the move has been positive, with Yoav Segalovitz being well-regarded for his crime-fighting efforts and good relations with local authority heads.

However, ideological and technical obstacles may hinder the partnership. Raam chairman Mansour Abbas has until August 22 to pass changes in the party primaries, including a national service framework, accepting the Declaration of Independence, and obtaining reserved slots. Despite the tight political schedule, Abbas remains determined to pursue the partnership, aiming to bring genuine political innovation and a new Arab-Jewish partnership to Raam.
