Houthi attacks near Bab al-Mandeb strait kill at least 7 and wound 20

At least seven individuals lost their lives and 20 others sustained injuries in a Houthi drone and missile assault on the vital port of Mokha, situated close to the Bab al-Mandeb strait, according to a Yemeni government military source speaking on condition of anonymity. Among the fatalities were three civilians and four military personnel present at the port.

The attack specifically targeted the civilian commercial port and the nearby residential structures, as reported by the source. Earlier in the day, a statement from a Houthi military spokesperson claimed that Saudis were among the casualties and that the attack resulted in the destruction of equipment and weaponry. Fayyad Al-Nuaman, the assistant undersecretary of the Yemeni Ministry of Information, informed DPA that the Houthi targeting of Mokha caused significant material damage to the port's buildings and docks.

The Houthis declared on Sunday that they had carried out a drone attack on a Saudi oil refinery belonging to Aramco, located in Jazan, southwestern Saudi Arabia. According to the Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Saree, the drone attack was a "precise hit" and was in retaliation for the "Saudi enemy's violation" of the airspace over Yemen's Saada and Hajjah provinces with drones.

The Saudi Ministry of Energy reported that a fire broke out at dawn at a facility of an Aramco refinery in Jazan, but firefighting teams managed to extinguish the blaze without any casualties. However, the cause of the fire was not disclosed.
