Beaten Path Revealed for PC and Consoles

A new tactical RPG, named Beaten Path, is set to take players on a journey through a world of ancient machines and fallen gods. Developed by Jarett Gross, the game is a solo project that combines elements from games like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics. The developer highlights that the game offers 25 fully voice-acted characters, numerous abilities, weapon classes, and a dual-job system, making party-building a key aspect of the gameplay.

Gross explains that Beaten Path boasts grid-based maps for turn-based, tactical combat. Players' positioning, height, and other factors play a crucial role in the game. Specific moves, such as Sync attacks when flanking enemies and causing foes to Break after identifying their weaknesses, add depth to the gameplay. The developer also mentions that the game will span continents, include sea travel, horseback riding, explore hidden secrets, and return to a hub called The Haven, where players can interact with allies, engage in conversations, and find new ways to enhance their party.

The game's Kickstarter campaign was fully funded in just six days, and now the development progresses. Gross states that the game has been in development for almost five years and has grown into something much larger than initially imagined. The partnership with Wales Interactive marks an exciting next step, allowing the developers to reach more players across PC and consoles.

The game is scheduled to launch on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch in 2027. Interested players can wishlist the game on Steam.
