"account": "Three of the six confederations comprising FIFA issued an open letter on Monday, August 10, 2026, criticizing President Gianni Infantino's conduct in the proposed sale of a stake in World Cup commercial rights. They called for leadership change and requested an independent review of the now-abandoned proposal. Infantino, who is seeking re-election in March 2027, has faced accusations of breaking trust and placing himself above the collective, according to the letter co-signed by Uefa, AFC, and Concacaf. US President Donald Trump defended Infantino, stating that the president would face a \"terrible mistake\" if they considered replacing him. Despite the opposition from the three confederations, many members of FIFA, including several AFC nations and Mexico from Concacaf, have pledged their support for Infantino.",
