"account": "Every time I return to writing markup and CSS, it feels like there are new tricks to discover. The 30th anniversary of CSS has arrived, and it still feels like magic. Remember when I first made websites, relying heavily on tables and spacer gifs, and only sprinkling in basic CSS? Back then, I didn't fully grasp semantics, page weight, or the cascade. Learning proper techniques came from resources like Eric Meyer's Definitive Guide and Dan Cederholm's CSS books. Typing simple lines like color: red; and seeing a color change felt like casting a spell. CSS has evolved dramatically, with Flexbox, grid, viewport units, variables, and more. These enhancements have transformed CSS into a unique design medium, far beyond just a translation from print. It has become a design medium with its own grain, and fortunately, my outdated code still renders perfectly in today's browsers! It's astonishing that decades-old code remains backwards compatible. What about software from 20 years ago; how much of it still functions on our devices today? In the tech world, most things deteriorate over time, filled with upsells, ads, and unnecessary features. CSS, however, gets better with age and new features. This is remarkable! The credit goes to the brilliant minds continuously improving CSS, such as Rachel Andrew, Miriam Suzanne, Jen Simmons, Lea Verou, and the CSS Working Group members refining and expanding the spec. There are some concerns about certain browsers, but CSS remains a surprising light, continually improving due to the dedication of its creators. CSS is an absolute marvel.",
