"account": "In a close referendum held on Sunday, Iceland's population narrowly voted against restarting talks on joining the European Union, with 52.8% opting for \"No\" and 47.2% for \"Yes,\" according to official results. Despite the slim margin, the outcome dealt a significant blow to the pro-EU Social Democrat-led government. Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir, who campaigned for a \"Yes\" vote, pledged to respect the decision and not attempt to resume EU accession talks during the current parliamentary term. The referendum, held amid heightened geopolitical tensions, came as Iceland faces increased pressure to bolster its relationship with the European mainland. With just under 400,000 inhabitants and membership in NATO, Iceland's decision to reject reopening talks is a surprising result, especially given the small majority against the proposal.",
