"account": "North Carolina State is set to hire former NFL quarterback Philip Rivers as its new head coach, according to sources. The Wolfpack fired Dave Doeren on October 24 after a 14-season tenure with the team. Rivers, a 44-year-old legend at NC State, played quarterback for the school from 2000 to 2003 and led them to various accolades, including ACC Athlete of the Year and Player of the Year. He was drafted fourth overall in 2004 and had a short stint in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts in 2025. Despite a brief retirement, Rivers returned to the league in December 2025 to help the Colts with quarterback injuries. His impressive high school coaching record, particularly with a 25-3 record in 2024 and 2025, led to his selection as NC State's new head coach, making him the first high school head coach hired by a big conference program since 1981.",
