"account": "Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil reported on Malaysia's rapid expansion of its 5G network at Mobile World Congress Doha 2026. With the country's second 5G network reaching 90% coverage in October 2025, nine months ahead of schedule, Fahmi highlighted significant strides in Malaysia's shift towards a dual 5G network model. This model aims to foster competition, attract investment, and enhance telecommunications service quality. The progress was part of Malaysia's broader digital infrastructure development, which included a fiber penetration rate of 10.12 million premises as of July 2026, bolstering high-speed broadband access. Besides focusing on coverage, Fahmi emphasized the importance of service quality, affordability, and resilience in digital infrastructure development. The Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) promotes infrastructure sharing and efficient deployment while addressing connectivity gaps in underserved regions. The USP framework ensures telecommunications services remain accessible and affordable in areas where commercial investment might not be feasible. Fahmi, representing Malaysia at the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference in Doha from November 6-11, aims to secure Malaysia's re-election to the ITU Council for the 2027-2030 term, alongside the Deputy Secretary-General Mano Verabathran and other industry representatives.",
