"account": "FIFA President Gianni Infantino has praised Nigeria's Flamingos for their historic victory at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, calling it \"well deserved\". The Nigerian team emerged victorious in the final against Japan, winning 2-1 at the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Rabat, Morocco. This triumph marked the first time an African team won the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup and the first time a women's team from Africa won any FIFA World Cup title. Infantino awarded the championship to Nigeria shortly after the trophy ceremony, acknowledging the historic significance of the win for the country and the continent. The Flamingos overcame a loss to Poland in their opening match to secure six consecutive victories and claim the title. Their group-stage win against defending champions North Korea was pivotal in revitalizing their campaign. In the final, Awawu Bashiru scored first, and Oluebube Umejiaku doubled Nigeria's lead shortly after the restart, earning the Golden Ball as the tournament's top player with her fourth goal of the competition.",
