"summary": "The North West police commissioner, Lieutenant General Arthur Peter Adams, has condemned an alleged assault of a 33-year-old motorcycle delivery driver by a police officer in Thlabane. The incident, which occurred on Saturday afternoon, November 7, 2026, has prompted a criminal investigation and a departmental probe. A video of the altercation has since circulated on social media. The delivery driver has opened a criminal case of assault and crimen injuria, which is currently under investigation. SAPS Commissioner Adams expressed serious concern over the incident, particularly as the officer was allegedly dressed in civilian clothes. He has directed that the circumstances surrounding the incident be investigated internally, and that appropriate steps would be taken against the officer if misconduct or a violation of the law was found. Adams emphasized that police officers are expected to protect communities, uphold the law, and treat everyone with dignity and respect. The provincial commissioner has appealed to members of the public to remain calm and allow the investigation to run its course.",
