"account": "In Barnala, Punjab, a 27-year-old member of a village anti-drug committee, Amandeep Singh, was shot and wounded in his home on Saturday, November 8, 2026. Police stated that the injured man, who is now out of danger, was found with a gunshot wound to his thigh. Four locals have been identified in connection with the incident, which is currently under investigation to determine the motive behind the shooting. Amandeep Singh had previously reported suspected drug peddlers in the area to the authorities, which may have placed him at risk. The issue of drug abuse in Punjab has become increasingly prominent as the 2027 Assembly elections approach, with some political parties attempting to capitalize on this sensitive topic.",
