In the United States, President Donald Trump participated in a diya-lighting ceremony at the White House, accompanied by Indian officials and celebrities. UAE Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum conveyed his greetings, wishing for peace, hope and prosperity.\n\nSri Lanka's President Anura Kumara Dissanayake highlighted Diwali's significance as a symbol of light overcoming darkness and knowledge conquering ignorance. He also called for building a better society based on kindness, coexistence and justice. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, too, wished the Hindu community, emphasizing Diwali's message of light over hatred, intolerance and despair.\n\nIran's Ambassador to India, Dr Mohammad Fathali, mirrored this sentiment, pointing out the shared cultural ties between India and Iran.
