"summary": "Punjab Police on Sunday brought wanted gangster Gurwinder, also known as Afridi, back to India from Ethiopia. Afridi, a resident of Tut village in the Tarn Taran district, landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport early in the morning and is being escorted to Punjab by a team from the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) led by SP Bikram Brar. According to Hindustan Times, police sources described this as the first time Punjab Police has secured the return of a fugitive from an African country.\n\nThe Punjab government had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to Afridi's arrest, according to NDTV and NDTV - India News. Afridi's name was linked to an investigation regarding an August 31, 2022, attack on a church in Thakkarpura village, where masked men allegedly vandalized religious statues and set a pastor's car on fire.\n\nTo assist in tracking gangsters who have fled abroad, the Punjab Police has established an Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell (OFTEC) to work with foreign law enforcement and central agencies. Special DGP (AGTF) Parmod Ban and Special DGP (Counter Intelligence) are expected to hold a press conference regarding the matter.",
