"account": "President Donald Trump has called for the Department of Justice (DOJ) to launch an investigation into Democratic lawmakers, accusing them of employing extortion tactics against administration officials, Republican donors, and political supporters. In a statement on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump described the alleged actions as \"extortion at the highest level\" and demanded accountability.\n\nTrump alleged that Democrats were threatening officials, including the Attorney General, with impeachment and other forms of punishment despite having no evidence to support such claims. He also accused Republican donors of being targeted due to their political affiliations, claiming they faced threats of imprisonment and other penalties for supporting Republicans.\n\nThe president singled out Michigan Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin, alleging she planned to target young people who support Republican values. Trump also claimed that threatening letters had been sent to innocent individuals by Democratic political leaders and ordered the DOJ to investigate these alleged crimes.\n\nIn a subsequent post on Truth Social, Trump referred to Democratic lawmakers as \"SLEAZEBAGS\" and demanded they face imprisonment. The remarks come as Democrats now control both chambers of Congress following the midterm elections, potentially expanding their ability to investigate administration decisions and conduct oversight hearings.",
