"account": "US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Trade Representative Jamie Jamieson engaged in direct discussions with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng about their strained trade relations on Friday, prior to an upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China. The talks aimed to address commitments made in October 2025 during a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, where China agreed to purchase US soybeans and suspend new export controls on rare earth materials. Bessent emphasized the significance of China's timely implementation of its commitments and highlighted ongoing concerns over recent trade actions by Beijing. He stressed that progress depended on \"concrete results\" and the US would closely monitor China's adherence to the arrangement. In response, China expressed serious apprehensions over recent economic and trade restrictions imposed by the United States. Both parties agreed to manage their differences responsibly and foster a stable trade relationship. The APEC summit in Shenzhen, set for November 18-19, may also feature a tripartite meeting involving Trump, Xi, and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Beijing has reportedly been in contact with Washington and Moscow regarding the possibility of this additional discussion.",
