"summary": "Richard Lloyd, a founding member and guitarist for the influential New York rock band Television, has died at his home in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was 75 years old. Billboard reports that he passed away on Saturday morning, November 7.\n\nLloyd died from cholangiocarcinoma, a form of bile duct cancer. Rolling Stone reports he had been diagnosed with the disease in March 2026, while Consequence notes he revealed his diagnosis in August.\n\nAs a guitarist, Lloyd was known for a style that combined harmonic complexity with the aggressive approach of the mid-1970s New York punk scene. Deadline describes his intricate work as a fiery counterpart to the playing of Television co-guitarist and singer Tom Verlaine. Consequence notes that Lloyd had a 50-year career that included the release of nine solo albums.",
