"account": "Luxolo Namete, a former councillor and deputy mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, was fatally shot in Motherwell on Saturday afternoon. The United Democratic Movement (UDM) believes his murder undermines the legitimacy of the recent election. Namete's political career began as a committed youth activist within the UDM. He later became chairperson of the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) in the metro region. The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed the discovery of Namete's lifeless body with a gunshot wound to the head in Umnulu Street, NU9, Motherwell on November 7, 2026, around 3:50 PM. Authorities are actively investigating suspects and the motive behind the attack. A murder case has been initiated and is under scrutiny by the SAPS Motherwell. As the scene remains active, additional information will be released when appropriate.",
