"summary": "Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been appointed as the inaugural Chair of the African Political Parties Initiative (APPI). The appointment was made following a nomination by an interim committee and unanimous approval from participating political parties across Africa. Nketiah accepted the role at the African Political Parties Summit 2026 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In his acceptance address, he expressed gratitude to the participating political parties and acknowledged the Africa Governance Centre for establishing APPI. He emphasized the importance of political parties moving beyond electoral victories and focusing on developing the knowledge, institutions, and leadership needed to govern effectively. Nketiah highlighted the challenges Africa faces in the face of significant demographic, economic, and technological changes, urging political parties to rethink how they prepare for governance. He also cautioned against the abandonment of useful policies and institutional expertise when there are changes in government.",
