"account": "Five cop shows were canceled before reaching their full potential, leaving viewers yearning for more. Paris, a CBS series featuring James Earl Jones in his first television role, was cancelled after airing only 11 episodes of its pilot season due to poor scheduling. Prodigal Son, a crime/psychological drama from Fox, starred Thomas Payne as a former FBI profiler working with the NYPD and was cancelled after two seasons due to declining viewership. Crime Story, developed by Michael Mann, took a unique approach to the genre with a continuous storyline spanning the 1960s, but NBC cancelled it after two seasons due to high costs and a shift in focus. The Bridge, an FX crime drama set in an international setting, also saw a drop in ratings after the showrunner left, leading to cancellation after two seasons. Finally, Rainn Wilson's Backstrom on Fox showcased Wilson's acting range but was cancelled after one season due to declining viewership, despite positive critical reception.",
"summary": "These short-lived cop dramas deserved better, but timing sometimes isn't right. Whether it was ratings or budget, these shows were canceled before their time.",
