"summary": "Gael Monfils, the 40-year-old former tennis player, has been appointed as the new captain of the France Davis Cup team, replacing Paul-Henri Mathieu. Monfils, who recently retired after a 22-year career, expressed his pride in taking on the role and his desire to create a collective project for the team. He acknowledged the emotional difficulty of his decision, citing his recent separation from his wife, Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina, as a factor. Monfils, who won 13 ATP titles during his career, will be supported by former teammates Richard Gasquet and Gilles Simon. France is scheduled to return to Davis Cup action in February 2027.",
