"account": "In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a 38-year-old Chinese man named Qiu Zhaohu, also known as Xau, was sentenced to 38 years in prison for the brutal murder of an 18-year-old woman named Marcelle Júlia Araújo da Silva. The victim had rejected Qiu's romantic advances, leading to his violent actions. Qiu operated a food stall in Marcelle's neighborhood and had known her for at least ten years. He frequently attended her family's parties and barbecues, and was once seen as a friendly figure. In June 2025, Marcelle went to Qiu's home after he insisted on her collecting a Valentine's Day gift basket in person. Security footage showed her arriving at his residence in the morning. Several hours later, Qiu was seen leaving his residence, pushing a wheelbarrow covered with a blue tarp. Marcelle's remains were later found in the tarp at another property belonging to Qiu, partially consumed by two pit bulls. After committing the murder, Qiu left Rio de Janeiro, and was later arrested in a joint police operation in São Paulo. During his sentencing on October 29, the judge described the case as a \"classic episode of femicide\" and highlighted the immense suffering caused to Marcelle's family, especially her mother, upon learning of her brutal death.",
