The 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony, which took place in 2026, saw Messi rank Maza third on his voting ballot for the Kopa Trophy, an award given to the world's best young player. Despite finishing ninth in the final standings, Maza's award from the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has given him an extra spark of drive to improve his game.\n\nMaza, who is known as \"Mazadona,\" previously represented Germany at youth level before switching his senior allegiance to Algeria in October 2024.
