"account": "Cody Bellinger of the New York Yankees secured the 2026 American League Platinum Glove Award, an honor bestowed upon the league's premier defensive player. The prestigious recognition was announced by Rawlings on Friday, following Bellinger's victory at left field, where he had claimed the AL Gold Glove on November 1. This marked his second Gold Glove win and first since 2019, during his MVP season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Platinum Glove was expected, as Bellinger was the standout defensive left fielder in baseball that season, accumulating 21 Defensive Runs Saved, surpassing Jackson Chourio of the Milwaukee Brewers, the NL Gold Glove recipient. Bellinger's performance was also quantified by his Fielding Run Value and Outs Above Average, ranking above the 90th percentile in both metrics. The Yankees recognized his Gold Glove win earlier in the week, with a congratulatory tweet. Bellinger contributed significantly at the plate as well, batting .264, hitting 17 home runs, driving in 73 runs, stealing 12 bases, and posting a .768 OPS in 132 games. He also earned the All-Star Game MVP award in July. Despite the Yankees' early elimination in the AL Division Series, Bellinger's strong season and defensive prowess solidify his role as a key player for the team as they aim to rebound in 2027.",
