"account": "On Friday, President Donald Trump appointed Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller as his new White House chief of staff, following the resignation of Susie Wiles. The move comes after Democrats secured victories in the midterm elections, resulting in their control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Miller, 41, is known for his role in the administration's stringent immigration policies. He will take up the position on Monday, November 9. Wiles, 69, made history as the first woman to hold the role of White House chief of staff after leading Trump's 2024 election campaign. She submitted her resignation on Thursday and will move to the Trump Political Operation. Trump praised Wiles, stating that she did an excellent job, and commended Miller for his experience and management skills, adding that he would do an exceptional job in the role. Wiles described her time on Trump's team as \"the honor of a lifetime\" and expressed her continued commitment to the President and the mission. Miller thanked Wiles for her service and friendship, emphasizing the need to fight for the President and defend the nation. The change in leadership comes at a time when African governments are evaluating the implications of a Democratic US Congress on various issues such as AGOA, tariffs, visas, and aid. Congressional Democrats, who will assume control of legislative committees in January, have criticized Miller's elevation. Representative Robert Garcia, who will chair the House Oversight Committee, vowed to investigate Miller regarding the actions of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, stating that Miller should \"lawyer up.\"",
