The news of his death was confirmed on Friday, November 6, 2026, following his demise on Thursday, November 5, 2026. The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) paid tribute to the actor, describing him as another legend whose memory would remain with the industry. Apart from his acting career, Ikpechukwu was an active member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, serving as chairman of its Enugu State chapter. In this role, he provided support and guidance to emerging actors. Prior to his foray into Nollywood, the actor was a talented footballer in the 1970s and was reportedly offered an invitation to join Nigeria's national team, known as the Green Eagles at the time.
