"account": "Acting National Sports Authority Director-General Prof. Emmanuel Osei Sarpong has expressed support for the long-term demolition and reconstruction of the Accra Sports Stadium, but cautioned against tearing it down immediately. He emphasized that closing the stadium now would leave Ghana's national teams without a certified home ground during the renovation process by 2027. Osei Sarpong noted that demolishing the stadium would necessitate alternative venues for home matches, imposing financial burdens on the government and football authorities. The authority has identified engineering issues at the venue, but could not proceed with demolition due to lack of alternative grounds. Despite multiple renovations, the stadium still fails to meet full FIFA and CAF standards, including floodlight repairs and outdated water pipes. However, Osei Sarpong affirmed his backing for the stadium's demolition and reconstruction in the long term, acknowledging its historical significance as the country's only venue cleared to host all national teams.",
