"summary": "US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's future is uncertain following a significant setback in the November 3 midterm elections. According to El Pais English, the potential for a sizable Democratic majority in the new Congress comes amid internal administration friction regarding the war with Iran and its role in the Republican defeat. A lawmaker from Hegseth’s own party is expected to initiate impeachment proceedings against him next week.\n\nOn November 5, Hegseth issued a video message defending the Iran war as “courageous and historic” and vowing to fight congressional efforts to impeach him, France 24 reports. Meanwhile, Daily Times reports that President Donald Trump has already sought recommendations from political allies regarding potential successors to the Defense Secretary position following inquiries initiated ahead of the midterms.",
