"account": "Parliamentary debates took place on Tuesday night as Turkish lawmakers voted to ratify a regional defense pact involving Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. State media reported that the 279-to-119 vote saw the three nations sign the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement in August. This commitment entailed mutual assistance if any member came under attack.\n\nThe pact connects NATO member Turkey, which possesses the alliance's second-largest army, with Pakistan - the Islamic world's only nuclear-armed state - and Saudi Arabia, the Gulf's leading power. The measure was approved by 279 votes to 119, according to the state-run Anadolu news agency. During parliamentary discussions, ruling AKP lawmaker Ziya Altunyaldiz stated that the agreement was not directed against any third country and aimed to prevent conflicts rather than escalate them.",
