"account": "On August 6, 2025, Darian Sam, 28, fatally stabbed 26-year-old Breydon Henry Cadieux-Kwiatkowski in the neck during a street altercation in Winnipeg. Sam pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 12 years in prison, plus an additional six years for various drug and weapon offences. King’s Bench Justice Vic Toews described the stabbing as a \"horrific act\" and noted that Sam had no business carrying a weapon or engaging in the confrontation. Sam was on bail at the time, with a court order prohibiting him from possessing any weapons. Police arrested him six days later while in possession of bear spray and drugs, including 27 grams of fentanyl.",
