"account": "Russell Brand has been found guilty of raping one woman and sexually assaulting three others during the peak of his showbiz career, according to Southwark Crown Court. The ex-comedian, now 51, allegedly preyed on women he encountered, using his fame to pursue sexual encounters with thousands of them. Six women testified against Brand, while he refused to call upon any celebrity friends or former colleagues to defend him. The jury found Brand guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault, clearing him of two additional rape charges and one allegation of attempted indecent assault. He was sentenced to serve time in prison and will be placed on the sex offender’s register for the rest of his life. Brand showed no emotion during the verdicts, except to close his eyes when the rape conviction was announced. His wife, Laura Gallacher, visibly reacted negatively when the guilty verdict was delivered. Brand was previously married to Katy Perry. The allegations came to light in September 2023 after an investigation by journalists from The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4 Dispatches. At the time, Brand was named Shagger Of The Year three times by The Sun for his questionable behavior towards women.",
