"account": "As the hot stove season has begun, attention has turned to free agent starting pitching, a market that analysts believe is thin. The Cubs have a significant task ahead of them, given their need to bolster their starting pitching ranks following a subpar 2026 season where their pitching wasn't a strength. The available free agents, according to MLB Trade Rumors, FanGraphs, and other baseball sites, generally do not represent significant upgrades over current Cubs pitchers.\n\nThe top of the free agent starting pitcher class consists of elite talent such as Tarik Skubal, Trevor Rogers, and Freddy Peralta. However, the talent pool quickly thins out as you move through the ranks. Michael King, Sonny Gray, Tyler Mahle, Clay Holmes, Kevin Gausman, Nick Martinez, Shota Imanaga, Foster Griffin, Dustin May, Casey Mize, Michael Soroka, Nick Pivetta, David Peterson, Paul Blackburn, Matthew Boyd, Kris Bubic, Robbie Ray, Chris Bassitt, Jose Berrios, Shane Bieber, Walker Buehler, Griffin Canning, Carlos Carrasco, Aaron Civale, Patrick Corbin, Nestor Cortes, Zach Eflin, Erick Fedde, Jack Flaherty, Kyle Freeland, Zac Gallen, Lucas Giolito, Eric Lauer, Zack Littell, Michael Lorenzen, and German Marquez are among the other free agents listed.",
