"account": "Former Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole has accused Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, of lacking an alternative vision for the nation compared to President Bola Tinubu. Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State and member of the All Progressives Congress, made these remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today. He criticized Obi's economic policies, stating that they were driven by short-term gains rather than long-term national development. Oshiomhole described Obi as a \"trader\" whose leadership prioritises short-term profits over building institutions for future generations. The senator questioned whether Obi would preserve certain policies of Tinubu's administration, such as the student loan scheme, or revert to a multiple exchange rate regime if elected. Oshiomhole also pointed out the contradictory statements Obi made about the removal of fuel subsidies, noting that the former Anambra governor initially supported the policy but later differed with Atiku Abubakar, who advocated its restoration. The senator emphasized the importance of politicians being candid with the public about the potential hardships associated with difficult decisions. Oshiomhole also alleged that Obi had not paid taxes in Nigeria, claiming that he kept substantial assets in tax havens.",
