"summary": "Democrats secured a midterm election victory that returned full control of Congress to the party, handing President Donald Trump a historic defeat. According to Dawn, the party gained at least 30 seats in the House of Representatives and took control of the Senate with a majority of at least 54-44, flipping seats in deeply Republican states. El Pais English reports that this victory follows a \"blue wave\" across the United States.\n\nDawn reports that House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries stated the incoming majority will focus on accountability and affordability, noting that the House of Representatives will no longer function as a \"wholly owned subsidiary\" of the Trump administration. This shift marks the first time Trump has faced a Democratic-controlled Congress in both chambers. The electoral shift was driven by anger over policies such as the US-Iran war and its impact on the cost of living.",
