"account": "Kota Kinabalu: Sabah's Kinabalu Unesco Global Geopark status has been extended for another four years, according to Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin. The expansion of the mountain's protected natural and geological site also comes as part of the global heritage status, which he confirmed after launching the state-level World Environment Day celebration.\n\nThe Kinabalu Unesco Global Geopark, designated in 2023, is a UNESCO-recognized protected site in north-western Sabah. This makes Sabah one of the few locations worldwide to hold the prestigious \"Triple Crown\" of Unesco designations: World Heritage, Biosphere Reserve, and Global Geopark.\n\nJafry assured that a proposed High Altitude Training Centre on the mountain would not compromise its Unesco status. He dismissed concerns about extensive construction or major infrastructure development due to the challenges of transporting materials up the mountain. The ministry is expected to provide further details on the centre's construction.",
