"account": "On Wednesday, Vice-President JD Vance delivered a scathing critique of President Donald Trump's decision to launch the Iran war, attributing the GOP's midterm election defeat to the conflict. In a 600-word statement on X, Vance argued that the war was a political blunder and urged supporters to acknowledge the cost of the war, both in terms of the Senate and the loss of key Democrats in the House. Trump, who had previously defended the war, acknowledged its role in the midterms defeat and claimed he would repeat the decision if given the same choices. The vice-president's sharp break with Trump marks a significant shift in their relationship, potentially setting the stage for Vance's future presidential aspirations.",
"summary": "The vice-president's blunt assessment of Republican election defeat marked one of the sharpest breaks with a sitting president in recent memory.",
