"account": "Hong Kong democracy activist Joshua Wong is set to be sentenced on Thursday, November 5, for the charge of foreign collusion under the national security law. The 30-year-old, who has spent nearly six years in jail, was accused of seeking international sanctions against Hong Kong and China. Wong pleaded guilty in September, a decision that usually leads to a reduced sentence. However, authorities have now charged him again under the same law, which could result in a prison term of between 10 years and life if deemed a \"grave nature\" offense. Rights groups have criticized the collusion charge as a tactic to maintain Wong's imprisonment. Wong has been politically active since the 2014 Umbrella Movement protests and was jailed multiple times for protest-related activities. In 2024, he was part of a large national security trial, but unlike many of his co-defendants, he faces this additional charge. His lawyer requested a sentence of three to 10 years, acknowledging the time already served. Friends and supporters express deep concern for Wong, acknowledging his youth when released.",
