"account": "The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Imo State has appointed Robinson Nwachukwu Duru as the acting chairman following a resolution by the party’s chairmen forum. This forum, consisting of all Local Government Area (LGA) chairmen across the state's 27 local government areas, made the decision after a recent meeting in Owerri. According to Anthony Opara, the secretary of the forum, Duru's appointment was prompted by the poor management of the party's affairs by the former State Executive Committee (SEC) and the lack of effective leadership from the State Working Committee (SWC), which faced a vote of no confidence due to alleged gross incompetence. Duru, who previously held the position of party chairman in Nkwerre LGA, was unanimously appointed as acting state chairman and acting secretary by the forum. The SDP expects the new leadership to oversee the party's affairs, reposition it for future political participation, and investigate anti-party activities, such as members wearing insignia of other political parties at SDP meetings, which would no longer be tolerated. The forum is urging members to remain committed, stating that the party is working to ensure a credible candidate emerges as its flag bearer in the upcoming governorship election in the state.",
