"account": "Dartmouth, Nova Scotia witnessed a significant development as American e-commerce giant Amazon broke ground on a new warehouse today. The massive structure, spanning over 200,000 square meters in the Burnside industrial park, will employ cutting-edge technology and a workforce of more than 1,000 full-time employees. Amazon's statement highlighted the integration of robots and human workers, aiming to create a safer and more efficient work environment. The company's objective is to enhance delivery speed and broaden product offerings for customers throughout the region. Since 2010, Amazon has poured more than $65 billion into its Canadian operations, expanding its workforce to over 46,000 individuals across 60 sites. In January 2026, Amazon Canada announced the closure of all seven Quebec warehouses, resulting in the loss of 1,700 permanent jobs and 250 temporary positions. This drastic move was attributed to cost-cutting measures and the desire to improve service quality. The company firmly stated that the decision had no connection to the successful unionization efforts taking place in the province. This report by The Canadian Press was initially published on November 4, 2026.",
