"account": "Nigerian Army troops thwarted a potential attack by discovering and detonating an improvised explosive device (IED) along the Damboa-Bulabulin-Maiduguri Road in Borno State. This crucial operation took place during a route-dominance patrol and escort of civilian vehicles, carried out by the 25 Brigade, Sector 2, in collaboration with local vigilantes. The discovery of the IED happened at around 1:30 pm on November 2, 2026, approximately five kilometres prior to the Kumala checkpoint.\n\nAccording to security sources quoted in a post on X by counterinsurgency and security expert Zagazola Makama, the explosive device was unearthed by the troops. Following its detection, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was swiftly deployed to the site and managed to successfully neutralize the threat. Post-detonation, the troops continued their journey toward the Kumala checkpoint, where they proceeded with their security operations.\n\nNotably, the discovery and subsequent clearance of the IED are part of the Nigerian Army's ongoing initiatives to secure vital roads, safeguard civilian commuters, and prevent attacks orchestrated by suspected terrorists in Borno State. The operation concluded without any casualties on either side.",
