"account": "The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has confirmed the tragic death of an officer during a border patrol operation in the Hamile Sector. This incident, which took place early Tuesday morning on November 3, 2026, resulted in the death of a tricycle rider as well. A second GIS officer was also injured during the explosion. The GIS issued a statement explaining that a team of four officers were conducting border patrol duties when they responded to an unusual sound off an unapproved route. While attempting to stop a man suspected of attempting to flee with a load on a tricycle, the load ultimately exploded, leading to the unfortunate deaths. One of the injured officers later passed away at Nandom Hospital, while the other remains hospitalized in stable condition. The Sector Commander, along with additional officers, visited the scene, and security measures have been implemented to ensure the area remains safe. The GIS reassured the public that border security operations in Hamile are ongoing and secure, and it urged the media and public to respect the privacy of the affected families, requesting the avoidance of circulating unverified information.",
